Irish Surfski Championships Set for Connemara's Killary Fjord
Paddlers will converge in Connemara for the Irish Surfski Championships from October 3–5, 2025. The race will run from Renvyle Beach into Ireland’s only fjord, Killary.
Participants describe the course as "one of the most scenic and unique ocean paddling courses in the country.” The route combines Atlantic exposure with the stunning landscapes of Killary Fjord.
The event will be hosted at Killary Adventure Co.’s new Otter Hostel in Leenane, Co. Galway. While the final programme is still in the works, past events have included equipment demos and evening socials.
Ireland’s paddlesports scene is growing. Just weeks before the Surfski Championships, the country will host the European Championships for Waveski and Surf Kayak in Easkey.
"It’s exciting to see Ireland increasingly recognised as a serious venue for ocean paddling,” said Shane Young, Director of Killary Adventure Co. "The Killary route is a standout—technical and beautiful.”
Entries are now open here, with various travel packages available, including accommodation at Otter Hostel.
